Make the Good Stuff Happen
Welcome to Magpie Planner!
"Wait. Tomorrow is Halloween? I haven't carved pumpkins or watched any Halloween movies!" - Me, every October 30th
Hi there! I’m Lynsey, and I built Magpie because I was tired of seeing the moments that matter most whiz past me on the calendar.
I designed Magpie so that everything you need to plan your calendar with intention and make your people feel seen is located in one spot. No more wrangling to-do lists, notes and calendars across different platforms. It's thoughtfulness made easier and, dare I say, even a little fun.
So, welcome! I hope you have fun exploring Magpie. We’re just getting started, and I’d love to hear what you think.
Happy planning!
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Magpie Planner?
Magpie Planner is your home for thoughtful gift-giving, holiday planning, and celebrating the people you love. Keep track of the little details about your favorite people, discover meaningful gifts, organize celebrations, and bring your plans together in one place. Magpie Planner helps you spend less time juggling lists and more time making memories.
Is Magpie Planner free to use?
Yes! Magpie Planner is completely free to use. We support the platform through affiliate links and brand sponsorships, which means we may earn a commission when you shop through certain links or feature sponsored gift recommendations. Our goal is to make thoughtful gift-giving and celebration planning easier for everyone.
Can the people I add see what I write about them or the gifts I’m planning?
No! Everything you enter in your People profiles, notes, sizes, birthdays, and planned gift ideas, is completely private to your account. The people you add are never notified and cannot see your notes or lists unless you specifically choose to share a wishlist link or invite them to collaborate on a plan.
How are Magpie Planner’s gift lists and gift finders different from other wishlists?
Unlike traditional wishlists, Magpie Planner helps you find gifts for the people you love, not just collect things you want for yourself. Our gift finder uses the interests and personal details you save in each person's profile to help you discover more thoughtful, meaningful gifts across different websites. You can also create your own wishlist, organize gift ideas, set budgets, and track your gift-buying progress for big occasions like Christmas. All your gift planning, all in one place, and completely free to use.
Can I add gifts from any store or website?
Yes! In addition to discovering curated gift recommendations right inside Magpie Planner, you can add custom gift ideas from any website or local boutique, including Amazon, Etsy, Target, or your favorite specialty shops. Simply paste a link, set the price, and keep track of it all in one list.
How does sharing my wishlist work?
When you create a wishlist for yourself or your family, you can generate a private shareable link to send to friends and relatives. They can view your list and claim items so gifts aren’t duplicated, keeping the surprise intact without any awkward overlap.
How is Magpie Planner’s planning function different from other planning tools?
Magpie Planner brings your celebration plans, invitations, and to-do lists together in one place. Break a holiday gathering, birthday party, or other special occasion into manageable tasks, then ask friends and family to help by assigning them tasks. When you invite guests, Magpie Planner can also help you remember important details like dietary restrictions, so you can plan with their needs in mind. Less mental juggling, more celebrating together.
How much information should I enter?
As much or as little as you'd like! Add birthdays, favorite things, interests, gift ideas, dietary restrictions, or any other details you want to remember. Magpie Planner keeps those details organized in one place, so you don't have to rely on memory, and can put them to use when finding thoughtful gifts or planning celebrations. Every little detail can help you make someone feel a little more seen.
